Stephen Colbert testifies before Congress

Some people are thinking that Stephen Colbert's appearance before Congress was inappropriate, but if they were the ones that invites him, they knew what they were getting themselves into. They know who he is and they know what he does and how funny he is when he talks about the news. I feel that if they didn't want that humor that he brought, they wouldn't have invited him since they know what he brings to the table wherever he goes. Yes, it was a little bit inappropriate, but I don't think it's something to worry about. The Congress invited him, so they knew what was going to happen.

  1. I agree. If the Congress didnt want this to happen they shouldve known what they were getting themselves into. I found some of it innapropriate but also true, like when Colbert said the government wasnt doing anything.

  2. I also agree that it was not inappropriate because that is just who Stephen Colbert is and the Congress should have known this. I also think that he made some very valid points just by using his sarcasm, so he still got his opinion across and backed his ideas up, just in a much more entertaining way.

  3. Stephen Colbert's appearance before Congress may have been irreverent, but at least it got more people to tune in and pay attention to what Congress was saying. Anything that can get more Americans to pay attention to politics is a positive in my opinion.

  4. Agreed. Colbert tells it is. Although it was sort of rude you're right, CSPAN asked for it. I'm sure thats the most views CSPAN has gotten in a while.

P.S. the picture of that girl is really cute.

  5. i agree Gevrey!!! if they didn't want him to use his profession to express himself then what else did they expect. that is his job thats what he does to get people interested in things, so of course he was going to act like that. personally it think it may have helped in getting everyday voters interested not only because it was funny but often laws are written in crazy un-understandable ways and he made it so the everyday person could!
